Dr James Revell says “The Hands for Heroes initiative is an excellent way for us to say thank you to our local service and ex-service personnel. Chiropractic can make a huge difference for a wide range of conditions – more than just back pain. With this free and reduced price treatment, there’s no need for local service men and women to suffer in silence.”

Event: London to Paris bike ride
For: St Wildrid’s Hospice

Lushington Chiropractic is committed to working with local business and helping local charities whenever possible. This is what the chiropractors, massage therapists and chiropodist had in mind when they embarked on a gruelling charity bike ride from Paris back to Eastbourne in 24 hours very early on a May morning.

The training had started many months before with training rides in all weathers fitted into busy diaries and covering many miles around Eastbourne and the surrounding areas including Hailsham, Seaford and further afield.

Taking part in the ride were James Revell (Doctor of Chiropractic), Diane (our fabulous clinic administrator), Jess Plail and Sue Hudson (Sports massage Therapists), Daniel Upton (Chiropody/podiatrist), and Graham, Stuart, Ben, Simon & Pete (friends of the clinic)

The race itself although very hard went very well and everyone made it back safely, to fall into nice warm beds!

The clinic raised over £3,000 for our local Eastbourne hospice St Wildrid’s.

Event: Quiz night

Another event organised by St Wilfrid’s was a quiz night based on many of the popular quiz shows on the TV including Never mind the Buzzcocks, Catchphrase and The generation game.

We entered a team with a very mixed knowledge of popular culture and current affairs and we were delighted to find that we came joint second.

It was nice to see other Eastbourne businesses and other business coming from as far afield as Seaford and hailsham.

James had a good conversation over a glass of wine with a couple of competitors and was able to explain the difference between Chiropractic, Osteopathy and Sports massage and physiotherapy

We all paid an entrance fee and with a raffle and donations for refreshments we helped them to raise over £1000 on what was a great fun night.

Event: Health & Posture checks
For: Barnardo’s Children’s Charity

Our Chiropractors love going out into the community and helping people and local charities in Eastbourne, Children are particularly important to them and so in half term we carried out health and Posture checks for school children in the local area including Eastbourne, Hailsham, Seaford, Polegate and Willingdon.

These health and posture checks give parents the opportunity to discuss their child with a fully qualified and experienced Chiropractor. They may advise on posture, lifestyle, nutrition or even exercises.

The focus is on getting to the root of the problem and improving overall health

The children love coming into the clinic and meeting the chiropractors and having some fun with them

We waive the normal fee of £49.00 in return for a suitable donation to Barnardo’s Children’s Charity.

Event: Pancake Race
For: St Wilfrid’s Hospice

St Wilfrid’s Hospice is one of the local charities in Eastbourne that Lushington Chiropractic is always very pleased to support whenever possible, they provide many fundraising opportunities for business’s to get involved in and we throw ourselves into many of the events with great enthusiasm if not much skill!!

So in February we gathered with much trepidation at Banker’s corner in Terminus Road, Eastbourne waiting to take part in the annual pancake race.

We had two teams of four including: James Revell (Doctor of Chiropractic), Mykel Mason (Doctor of Chiropractic), Victoria White (Doctor of Chiropractic), and Jess Plail (Sports massage therapist) making up one team and Claire, Ann, Jill and Judy (clinic assistants) making up the other.

Even whilst we were waiting for the start of the race it wasn’t all fun and no work as we had a couple of members of the public approach us to ask how Chiropractic might help them!

It was nice to see some of our guests in the crowd cheering us on.

Victoria one of our Doctors of Chiropractic was delighted when her partner made a special visit to cheer her on!

We came 3rd and 4th respectively in our heats and raised £185.00, we would like to thank all our guests for sponsoring us!

We also had health trainers Viola and Angela on hand to advise on many things including diet, giving up smoking and drug addiction.

We had liquid refreshments in our back driveway and a Barbeque in the front which proved very popular!
